I'm trying to rank for a particular keyword in the serps & I'm
going to use document sharing Sites like docstoc.

When I create a pdf document whats the best keyword density
and do I need to make the keyword phrase hyperlinks, put quotes
around it or just leave it like a regular phrase in the pdf. Keyword density is a myth; don't worry about it. Just write naturally and don't keyword stuff. Do use your keyword in the headline and the file name and link to the file with your anchor text. I plan on using 3-5 keywords per page do I need to put quotes around
the phrase in the pdf doc to make it a phrase, hyperlink it with anchor text
or just leave it naturally like it is. I'd go for natural ... I know G can read PDFs but I don't think of them as being particularly search engine friendly; why not have the same information on an HTML page and link to the PDF from there ... for printing? Have you had a pdf doc rank naturally without anchor text. In my first post I did suggest you" link to the file with your anchor text."

I haven't had a PDF file rank period. But I only use them when I want a stable, printable document. I do sometimes see them come up in SERPs, but why aren't you using an HTML file which is much easier to optimize? The content should be of use to your visitors and not search engines. Over emphasis of phrases, bold text, hyperlinks, quotation marks, increased font sizes, underlining, etc. only make it more difficult for a person to read a document.

If you created a document specifically for the search engines I doubt you will get any natural links; I for one wouldn't link to a document that was created without real visitors in mind. Anchor text would probably be more beneficial in links pointing to the page as opposed to being on the page.
