How do you give moderators the permission to ban?

Unless there is a mod to do this, you can't. They can however simply issue enough infractions to warrant a ban...

say some 1 is spamming your site and the admin is not around what can the mods do about this?

One way is to go into your ACP then click the Forums and Moderators block. Go to Show All Moderators, this will list all the people in the Moderator usergroup. Next to each moderator's name is a link that says Edit Permissions, click that and scroll to the 5th block down where it says User Permissions, you can change the settings for banning there for that moderator.

how can I make it so my moderators can give other moderators infractions

it's important to my site, when we ban we don't actually kick them off the board, it just puts them in jail where the other users poke fun at them

when they try to ban or give an infraction to anther mod it says you can not ban or give infractions to non regular users

is there somewhere in the code that decides which user groups a moderator can act on?

I really need some help with this

i don't think its possible, im pretty sure staff cant do anything to members of the equal rank or higher

yup, I just wondered if it's something that can be changed in a php file somewhere

I tried making all the mods supermods and then restricting their permissions, then they were able to ban each other

But I don't want them seeing everybody's IP address, in the Super Mod user group and forum permissions I clicked no for the view IP's but they still see them

my forum is a big free for all where everybody is a mod, they spend the day changing each other's avatars, titles, threads and posts

but they want to throw each other in jail (ban) and then have a friend bail them out

I can't figure a way to do it without them seeing IP's

I have that set to no and it still shows them the IP

maybe my system fubared after all the changes and mods I have done... millions of them

I also think that VBPlaza is messing with stuff because you can buy permissions for different moderator functions, maybe it overides the setting in admincp
