I'm new to this forum and new to css. What i'm trying to do is make the menu in my side bar float as people scroll down?
How can I get started?
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="Rustyhttp://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/staticmenu.htmThanks">Rustyhttp://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynami ... .htmThanks</a><!-- m --> for your help. But, what i'm looking for is to do it myself.
I have a sidebar on the right hand side that has a menu. the cell takes up 25% of page. when i scroll down the menu disappears. I what the menu to stay at about 50% of the browser screen.
I'm looking for a starting point. Maybe an example of one that's already done so I can backward engineer it and learn what's going on. I new to this stuff.
RustyThis one might not meet your exact requirements, but it is the start of one you could reverse engineer.I pluged the script into my code, as is, and it did not work. The menu just sat at the bottom of the page. I also don't know anything about java. I tried to change it to the right side, but to no avail.
I' really new at this and haven't had much luck.
Thanks,
RustyI tried this code, added in my own menu (of buttons no less) and it worked fine - in Firefox and Safari. In IE (Mac and Windows) the menu bar stays at the very bottom of the screen, and in Opera it doesn't show up at all!
The page I am working on is here:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://departments.oxy.edu/library/research/help/template_pathfinders_JS.htm">http://departments.oxy.edu/library/rese ... ers_JS.htm</a><!-- m -->
and the script is here:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://students.oxy.edu/vanbenschoten/floater.txt">http://students.oxy.edu/vanbenschoten/floater.txt</a><!-- m -->
It now shows up in IE properly, but I'd like it to stay at the relative top of the table it's housed in. I know this is a bit more complex, but if anyone could help, that'd be great.
Can anyone help me figure this out or point me in a new direction? Thank you!!
