well i have the same problem in the past..now it's done! i will give you a small help, i hope it's work on your site like it's 100% works in my site.
Download an Advance Registration from vbteam here --> looking on the vbAdd-On room, you will find it easily. Install..then activate the Random Question. if your site's targeted on your country only..just give a common question about your country or ordinary life in your citizen that everybody know the answer.
But if your site's target is all around the world, it will be diffilicult. my site's target is in my country only..now the dfdhcffhdfdb user is gone because he/she/it can't answer the random question that i give in the registration form

This is most likely a registration bot that has automated responses to the normal registration process. If you throw something in the registration process that the bot is not expecting or is not equipped to handle, it foils the process and registration will fail.
