go to AdminCP > vBulletin Options > Who's Online Permissions > Enable Spider Display (set to yes)

then save
 
by the way these bots or slurps, do they harm our websites?
i mean what exactly do these things do?
are these human beings or just machines?

These are bots sent by usually search engines (google, msn, yahoo, ...etc) depending to see the contents of your forum and add them to their database

so when ppl search on those search engines ur forum will appear as one of the results

there are several ways to do it, one of them is add ur site to those search engines for free but u will get like 3 or 4 spiders a day
or use the paid service which will get u much more spiders to index ur forum titles

The option that u enable or disable above is to display them or show them as guests

but that doesnt change the fact that they are there
 
Bots like Google and Yahoo Slurp are the search engines indexing your site. If you block them, you will never get a listing and nobody will be able to find your site ever, except close friends and family, that is... The bots to block are the content scrapers and other hotlinking parasites that come calling. The key is learning which ones are good and which ones are not... for the most part you want to enable all the big ones like google, yahoo, and msn and screw the rest of them unless they support your niche, at least that's my take on it.
