Today internet is so popular and borderless, people do business worldwide and hosting company comes from many countries. As we know US company are expanding and open up data centre Indian, China, Malaysia and Singapore to capture the new growing market. Frankly speaking cost in these countries is much lower and hosting company is making good income if they offer the same rate as US counterpart. They still make good money if the offer the same price as US counterpart. Let see the opinion from members, which country is your preferred choice and why?thanksactually the hosting price from those countries is much more expensive than US hosting price, their labor cost maybe cheaper but they do not have first mover advantage like US companiesHi, The best thing is to host in a country where visitors are coming from. However if you have a international site I'd recommend to have it on a US server. Also one should keep in mind that Search Engines give value to geographical location for local searches, as a example if your site is in a UK server and if you move it to a US server you could experience a drop in UK SE (search Engine) visitors. :uzi: silvermoonI always recommend the US because it seems as if the big hosting companies here generally have knowledgable people on staff, while in other countries, although knowledgable people work there, your communications with them may be tough.A lot of colocation providers have multiple locations around the world that will be able to handle your requests! I would suggest hosting in or around the same country where your customers/visitors are from!Labour isn't expensive in countries like India and China because they aren't spoilt brats like the US and therefore don't charge astronomical labour rates.I prefer US/UK/AUS as they're the most reliable.Well isnt that expensive in developing nations but bw cost is high, so its a compromise between the 2 .You have to ask yourself what's more important, price or reliability, even on a worldwide scale you do get what you pay for.

Ideally you want to put the site closest to your target audience.

DanNothing to do with country. I'm sure if you choose an expensive host in a developping country, you'll get better services than a cheap US host. It all depends who you choose. If yu can afford, contract a host from your country, if you don't want to spend a lot, choose an American host, and you'll have more stuff for the same price or you'll pay less for the same service.why not have both?the site on US and some satellite sites near on a backbone on each continent? as there are too many countries to place a server in :)also on there satellite sites you can place the downloads using a GeoIP thing so you will provide better experience to your audience. it has also the advantage of more sites being up if one of them fails - and this isnt it what we all want and at lowest money? not all of us can go with Akamai. It doesn't matter where is your host located. What matters most where is your server located. As for example we are located in India but most of our servers are located in US.

In US bandwidth is very cheap which you wont get anywhere else. So, I recommend you to choose a host which speaks and can provide support in your language and have his servers in US.

And if your clientale is only local (national) users then choose a host which has servers in your own country.
