Hello everyone,I am finding this web design so difficult i own a web site http://www.dogdied.co.uk trying to help people in there bereavement for when there dog has died.My occupation is a factory worker not a web designer but i enjoy in what i do to try and help others who suffer from bereavement. i have taken advice on here about my website and changed various things with my site also taken advice about getting higher rankings in search engines.Hers my problem,1. I have mailed lots of other website owners of the same sort of subject to do a link exchange but they never answer back.2, I have signed up for a banner exchange 5 times now only to find out when it says it is free at the last point they want money. (IS THERE REALLY SUCH A THING AS A FREE BANNER EXCHANGE) 3. Google is only listing about 3 pages of my website why is this?I need help please,Mnay Thanks,Emmaemma wrote:you should create sitemap and submit it to google sitemap also yahooHi thanks for all the advice i will try everything you tell me.I would love at the bottom of every post i make a signature as an image linking back to my website but i know how to add the image but not sure how to link the image back to my website. Can anyone give me the code to add to my signature.http://www.dogdied.co.ukthat doesn't work [ing]http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/216/weblinkexchangebanner32uz4.jpg[/ing]now change the n from [ing] into a m you can also change http://www.dogdied.co.uk into another URL if you would likeAnd for the webdesign:Please remove all those "Email A Friend About This Website! " and "Don't forget to bookmark us" it is very noobish to do that and it's very annoying for visitors. The links to Google, Yahoo, MSN etc. are also complete unnecessary. Everybody knows that adresses so why display them on your site.Did you use Frontpage to make your site?I'm sorry to say this but your source code is a disaster. Ever heard of CSS and div's ? That's a lot better then tables for design.I've posted a few critics before. Please use them or tell what you think. If you keep focusing on new problems your site won't improve.Thank you for you comments i used dreamweaver to build the website i am no webmaster in any way or means, you said your source code is a disaster. Ever heard of CSS and div's ?I will be honest i wouldnt know where to start with CSS and div's I was given dreamweaver a few years ago and i let the software do all the work for me i have checked with w3c and there is many faults within my homepage 60 in total but i don't want to try and adjust the faults as i am unsure what i would be deleting and adjusting.I would love a totally 100% fault free homepage but ill be honest with you i would not know where to start as i have relied on dreamweaver to do everything for me.Thanks i will try my best to adjust the faults.Emmaemma wrote:Emma - to get your image link into your signature, copy this codeCode: [ Select ]It seems to be off line at the moment....My husband has now stepped in to try and solve the problems we have with all the errors on w3c of my website but we are both scratching our heads as a simple border that we added to the homepage with text telling people the site will be back on line real soon has errors in it?Why does dreamweaver do this?As i have said previously we are just factory workers and we do not really understand html coding but thought that was what dreamweaver does for you, sort the coding out.?I think its going to be a long journey to get my website 100% correct free of errors.EmmaA good way to make a sitemap for google is by using a third-party application like GSiteCrawler ... it's free, and it does all the work for you ... then you can go to http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools where you must log in with your gmail or google account details (or create one for you) and from there you can add your sitemap view how google sees your site, see the errors google found etc ...
