Hide set forum from "New Posts" screen

I would like to hide certain sections of my forum from showing up on the "new posts" screen.

Main reason is I want to hid the humor/ jokes and general chat sections I have set up so that my users can press "new Posts" and see new posts rather being flooded by the jokes etc.

Is this possible.

The only way I know of to do this will also hide it from the search engine as well.

New posts section is simply an index of the search engine that has been posted in the last XX amount of hours.

In order to disable forum sections from appearing in the what's new & search engine go to your admin panel > Forums & Moderaters > Forum manager > "Edit" the forum you wish NOT to be indexed > Posting options > Index New Posts in Search Engine

That should do the trick.

Your old "new posts" will still show. Any new ones you create should not.

This is because your old "new posts" are already indexed. You can try to update the counters in the admin panel & this should take them off.

after taking of indexing on the parts of the forum I didnt want to show no the"new posts" I created a new topic in each, and it still showed.

I try again to night as it will be a completely new section I'm wanting this to work on.
 
Have done as you mentioned, and the posts from the forums where I have set not to index are still showing under new posts.
 
Any one else have any ideas, I have turned indexing off for these sections where I would like the posts not to show when a user clicks new posts, however they are still showing.

I have tried deleting all posts out of the said category, and tried posting again and they still show.

Must be a way to remove a section off the forum from showing under the "new posts" button.
 
Just wondering again if any one does have an ideas how to stop posts in specific parts of my forum from showing when the "new posts" page is viewed?
