I've been struggling for the last month to get my site up the google results. All that seems to happen is fall further down the rank.
The highest I've had it is page 3 its now residing down on page 16 :s (UK google search)
Keyword phrase : Car Inspections
website : www.mviuk.co.uk
I've been backlinking , submitting to directories & social networking to build some traffic, google adwords and on site stuff I guess im missing the obvious somewhere.
Can someone give me a bit of guidance / help more than just the generic 'you need more links' as I know theres more to it than that Quote: Originally Posted by racercam I've been struggling for the last month to get my site up the google results. Can someone give me a bit of guidance / help more than just the generic 'you need more links' as I know theres more to it than that I've notice for your meta keywords, you have a ton of them listed and only a few have a comma after the phrase. You might want to remove a few keywords and add a comma inbetween each keyword phrase. This may change nothing about your search results but i was just giving a little suggestion for your meta keywords.
When you are submitting to web directories, are you first looking around that one web directory to make sure it's a quality one? Some web directory owners approve all listings without review each one to make sure the titles and descriptions are not keyword stuffed. I'd rather have my site listed on a web directory in which the owner manually checks each listing and maybe even rewrites them.
Keep submitting to the social bookmarking sites. Have you also added article marketing and blog posting into your marketing methods?
Write articles about cars of course and start linking to your homepage and internal pages to get some long term backlinks. Find blogs in your niche and ask if you could make a guest blog post. Stick 1 or 2 links in that blog post. Since you'd be posting a article on a blog in your niche, that blog owners visitors should already be interested in viewing your website.

You also need to consider what you're up against, the top spots are TheAA, RAC, Which etc, so you certainly have your work cut out for you! In my opinion, the keyword "car inspections" is very general and unless you have a huge budget to work with, is not a good choice. Consider using a long-tailed keyword like "car inspections in UK" or "complete auto safety inspections" (emphasis on research). In general, long-tailed keywords are much easier to get page # 1 listings than short-tailed keywords. I would also recommend reducing your keyword list and only listing keywords that appear on the page itself.
