I have got a perfect domain name for my ecommerce website but the problem is I have been running my ecommerce website with another domain name from 2 years.
.
I have done a lot of SEO, 1200 pages of website are indexed and I am on no. 5 at page 1 of google for my selected keyword.
I dont wanna loose this hard work but I need to change the domain name b/c the new domain name perfectly suits my business and b/c of its genericness it can give me an edge over my competitors... Also guide me what to do with my backlinks which are pointing to my old domain name...Should I change them immediately to my new website?
Regards
Saad I will kindly suggest that you not destroy what you have built for the sake of a new name.
Consider parking the new name on the old for now and see how many incoming hits it gets. Just because you think it is the best thing since sliced bread does not mean the world will agree.
Best wishes. Sounds like you put in a lot of work there. Is that new domain name really so important? Looks like the domain you had since 2 years worked just fine. You could create a landing page on the 2nd domain and then use it as a presell for your 2 year old domain. Or do it as dominic3 suggested above. Don't change. Instead of changing you can run another website.
