1.) several search engines offer this service free, and if you check with the major ones (i cant mention names) it's likely all you will need to add is a link and image saying "Search Powered By *"
2.) depending on what your server setup has, you can do this one of several ways... ODBC with asp, CGI, PHP, SQL... research your server and find out what you can and can not run.
hope it helps!
chris<pixelmonkey>:monkey:OOO and welcome to the Forums!
chris<pixelmonkey>:monkey:but I need a script to just search the info on mysite like the one above.(search html forums)
2. my server runs php and cgi. Now whats my next step?it runs asp as wellOver here:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://sitelevel.whatuseek.com/?synd=box&chan=4">http://sitelevel.whatuseek.com/?synd=box&chan=4</a><!-- m -->
It is only working if you have real links, links may not be in a puldownmenu, otherwise you have to put al the links to the other pages in by hand.
On my site <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://home.12move.nl/~sh230091/home.html">http://home.12move.nl/~sh230091/home.html</a><!-- m --> I have used a moving down menu, that is a wrong one to use with sitelevel.Your server runs ASP AND PHP. I know some servers do this but I would be cautious of using one of them. If you're on a Microsoft box then go for ASP, if you're UNIX, go for PHP.You can try a remote searh engine that searchs ONLY your site:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.bravenet.com/samples/searchengine.phpthat's">http://www.bravenet.com/samples/searchengine.phpthat's</a><!-- m --> the cool thing about this forum... if one of the admins are side tracked with another project, one of the many consistant viewers will catch the thread and offer some ideas!
hope it helps!

Uhhh ravenx, a cool "only your site" search that requires no installation is Atomz (<!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.atomz.com">www.atomz.com</a><!-- w -->). I have used them a few times and they are really great. The down-side is that you have a little "powered by Atomz.com" button on your search results, but at least it doesn't require any installation like a perl search would. Btw, for good perl/cgi scripts (such as a search) check out wwww.hotscripts.com and/or <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.cgi.resourceindex.com">www.cgi.resourceindex.com</a><!-- w -->
Hope this helps!w00t I'm a superhero! (havn't been able to say that in a while ).You guys helped me alot..
