Hi, I don't know anything about html. I am using a copy/paste thing in frontpage to make a form. How can I add a place where you can submit a picture? like you click browse and a 'my pictures' folder comes up and you click on a pic and it is there. This is ergent as it is for a website I am making for someone else. THANKS

CaitlinThat can't be done with only HTML 'cause HTML is client-side programming. For uploading pics to a website you'll need server-side programming (like PHP, ASP or CGI....) and off course a script to do that for you...

Oh, and.... for showing that picture, you'll also need serverside-scripting because someone other than the webmaster/designer added something to website. Only uploading won't make the pics visible to other visitors!Let me explain why I need that and you can tell me what to do :) I am making a 'fish of the month' thing for a website I have been asked to make by someone else. and I decided to use a form for that. So I obviosly need a picture. Tell me how to get that picture.Yes, you are going to need to look into some serverside language. I personally use PHP, and a PHP file upload can be found here: http://forums.webdeveloper.com/showthre ... ght=uploadI am sorry...but I am SUCH a red-neck that I have no idea what to do with that. I am using frontpage, remember? what do I do?

P.S. please, lamens terms...I am 11Using serverside code is going to require some knowledge about how servers work (or better, how servers interact with serverside coding, and how the actual code is written/works). You'd probably be best of learning a bit of PHP (or the serverside language of your choice) and go from there. FrontPage is a WYSI(N)WYG editor, and isn't very useful for serverside programming. Serverside programming needs to be hard coded. Also, at 11, I'm not sure how much you'll care about this, but the code the FrontPage generates is quite hideous. Programs such as Dreamweaver and GoLive produce much, much more standards compliant (thus better) code. That being said, hard coding is still the best way to develop web pages. You can probably find what you ar elooking for premade in just about any server side language. What you are requesting seems fairly common. The way I see it you have two paths, use a premade script or some sort of image data base application, or buy a book on the server side language of your choice. Since pyro put his php plug in there I would like to reccomend ASP.NET.betta,

I'm not sure you're explaining yourself as well as you could.

Are you just trying to add a picture to a web page before it goes to the server?

Or are you trying to make a form that someone else can access on the Internet? Then they would fill out the form, click a button on the page & browse their own computer for the image?

A little more information might help us to help you. Try describing what you want the end result to be.Okay, I so far have a form, that when the somone presses the 'submit' butten, all the information they entered gets sent to me through an email. Then, I want to be able to decide which one of those entrys will be fish of the month. Then, once I have chosen, I will add the information onto the site. Does that help?

CaitlinI think that it is fair to say, considering this conversation and the fact that you are using Frontpage, that what you want to do is beyond your abilities. You need to find someone in your area to pay to do this for you.I aggree with charles, if you are designing and being paid by someone else and you are trying to do something out of your range it isnt a good thing.I'm guessing here, but it seems like be able to accomplish what you want with javascript. You don't need the image to appear on the form, right? You just need it to be sent to you with the email? Maybe someone in the js forum can create something for you that would attach a file based on the path registered when you browse to the image.

That said, I have to agree with Charles. What you're trying to do is outside your abilities. Good luck, tho.You cannot send an attachment in an email first of all. You can upload the image via a webform then have the url submitted to your email, but sending it as an attachment it out of the question. Mainly because I highly doubt it being possible and if it is possible its probably a ton of work and it would be very complex.Originally posted by PeOfEo
You cannot send an attachment in an email first of all. It's not all that complex to send attachments with PHP: http://www.hollowearth.co.uk/tech/php/e ... hments.phpI am not really trying to do it myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS WHY I AM ASKING YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted a simple cut in paste thing to put in the html part of frontpage, but NOOOOO you just won't listen will you! I am going SOMWHERE ELSE!!!Huh, I had never seen that done before. So with a server side language you can send an attachment, Ill take note of that. The way I would have gone into it was like I said before, just upload the image to the server then submit the url.We (I) have given you cut and paste scripts, but you don't appear to know how to use them... This site is for advise, not free contract programming/consulting.your stupid cut and paste stuff did not work!!!!!!! It showed up as text!!!!!!!!!!!!! You people are so rude!Originally posted by Tri-state betta
