Hi guys,if i want to set up website with same contents for co.uk, com, com.au, will google recognise that as legit and not penalise me at all? Thanks for reply in advance.. will they be 100% identical? Or will they have localized themes & information, etc?since they are of the same lang. ie english, i would say that they are 100percent identical.gathering country domains, more for the purpose of not wanting another company having the same name........localised themes ? I see where you are coming from. nope. no localised themes. basically the same products, same contents but having region specific names..Okies, then basically you'd just pick one to by your main site (presumably the .com), then setup a redirect on each of the other domains to forward to it.That'd be the most SE-Friendly way of doing it.Axe is right. I did something similar to this before (Exact same pages on 5 URLs) and got my main page which had a PR4 kicked to a PR0 for 2 months untill I pulled the pages down. well, i have 2 domains pointing to exact content and google did something pretty smart.it recognised that both links point at the same place, and now even when i do "link:www.***.co.uk" it reads same amount of links for each domain name.roger putting a redirect...so what if i dont want a main site...?but all domains having the same content.will I get penalised? anything that I shld do ..?Part of me thinks yes because I got spanked before, but part of me doesn't know because I have never had anything but .coms...Thought I would give my opinion to try to bring the post back up and maybe someone would give you a more definitive answer.Yeah, there's no point actually using the different regional domain names unless they're displaying different content.Using a redirect will allow all that PR to be passed along to a single site as well, rather than having it shared across identical content on several domains. If you've got 500 people linking to .com.au, that doesn't help your .com at all. If your .com.au is a 301 redirect to your .com, then it will help, and get you that bit higher up in the SERPS.Google may allow you to keep your main .com in the listings, and simply penalize the regional domain names. There may actually be a use for the different domain names provided you host them correctly...it may be possible based on the info below for two identical pages to exist in different regions.....read on...."Other factors for determining regional relevance from the search engines are the IP address. That is of course the IP address of the website. This means you may need to find a webhost in the country you are targeting. Where the links are coming from also logically help to define region/language. So you need links from sites in the language you are targeting. "the rest of the article is here: http://forums.seochat.com/t11609/s.htmlI have read those contents before but cannot relate them to what I am thinking right now.*scratching my head* so i guess its better to having a .com that covers all these websites. basically these websites are of same lang and same contents. and i wouldnt want to be penalised by google. If you were to get a penalty for this type of situation...the worst that could happen is that only one version of the pages/domains would remain in the index. Only thing is you can't conrtol which one google decides to keep...I think the jist of the article above is that google is going regional with it's results....that may allow an identical page, in a different domain, hosted in a different region and optimized for that region to exist. It would be an interesting experiment....allbeit expensive.not only expensive but risky too. will be risking the efforts + however long google will take off the penalty on websites..
