The vBulletin AdminCP
This will go through the options listed in the vBulletin AdminCP.
First, here is your AdminCP:
See the Box called Welcome to the vBulletin Admin Control Panel
In this box is alot of stats, basically telling you what version your PHP/MySQL are, and the memory limits, oh and if you are running off Linux/Unix or Windows or another type.
It has Menus at the side that can be Expanded/Collapsed:
Right, lets go through these options now:
vBulletin Options: This is where you go for most things. The commandcenter of your forum, this controls alot of the settings. Go through each category, get familiar, as most of your questions are easily found with a search through the "General Settings", "Style & Language Settings", or "User Options".
Search Type: This has the options to change your forum search type from Fulltext to vBulletin search, both have thier own advantages, but its not reccommended that you change this.
Human Verification Manager: This is where you choose the level of human verification on your vBulletin, this is handy against bots, but use it in moderation, you dont' want your members to have to fill in a CAPTCHA for every post they make, that generally doesn't work. Also where you turn on reCAPTCHA during registration.
Social Bookmarking Manager: This is where you turn on and off and add what providers your users can submit threads they like to, turned off by default, it allows users to Stumble, digg etc, threads they like on your forums.
The Styles & Templates is my second favourite and msot used menu, out of the lot..
Style Manager: We use this to access our styles to modify them etc... This is where we'll send you if you have a problem with your styles.
Get familiar with the template system, just the names will do and under which sub menu that they are on. (The skins shown are HBD and can be found by searching).
Search In Templates: Need to find a certain word or phrase quick? use this to find it and change it.
Replacement Variable Manager: this is where you can set replacement variables
Download / Upload Styles: this is how skins get onto your forums, features a download and import button, This is the first port of call if you're importing a pre made style.
Find Updated Templates: This helps you to keep your board up to dat with the latest vBulletin.
Language Manager: This is where you manage your languages, to US and English speakers, we really don't use this..
Phrase Manager: Some skins have custom phrases (Mainly Extremepixels) so they include phrase files that are the same as the english US one but with added phrases that are custom, this makes it harder for the rippers and this is where you manage the phrases, make changes, etc.
Search in Phrases: This is the same as "Search in Templates" above
Download / Upload Languages:this is how languages get onto your forums, features a download and import button, This is the first port of call if you're importing a pre made language/phrase XML file..
Find Updated Phrases: helpful in keeping your forum up to date
FAQ Manager: This is where you can edit/delete the pre-made FAQ items made by yourself or vBulletin.
Add New FAQ Item: This is where you add your own FAQ's.
Notices Manager: This is where you manage your notices, Notices are the things that appear at the top of the forum, globally, it can be anything from "COmpetition, win money", to "join now"
Add New Notice: Self Explanatory
