Google's Love affair with Wikipedia

Is anyone annoyed that Wikipedia has such a high page rank? They always seem to pop up in my top five search results regardless of topic.No... it's because wikipedia is popular and has a lot of link developments.... therefore higher PR. Go wikipedia! No. Whenever W appears in my search results (which isn't often) they usually have something useful to offer about what I was searching for.And it might not be PR that makes W appear in your serps. Don't forget targeted anchor text and the fact that the content might actually be relevant to what you were searching for.I don't really like wikipedia, It's mostly just peoples opinions on a subject. They should have called it opinionapedia. So i just don't click the link when it appears in serps.I'm sure that part of the reason for its popularity is the number of pages on the site, with as many topics and information there. Google likes BIG websites.Johnhttp://www.tripple-d.comdont you lot think google makes deals under the table with whoever they want..they pretty much run the internet.. if i knew the owner, and he put my site listed no.1 i would be a millionairethese are the consequences of the information ageI doubt google do any deals like that.. they make enough money to not have to.i think wiki deserves it, no adsand info on virtually any topic.Well there is no dealing..its just that at present there is no one better than wikipedia and we are also aware of the fact that they have high pr for frequent crawling of bots.shaneIs there any way we can get our link in Wikipedia ?Any suggestions ?Regards/Puneet M.If it's a good enough resource or an official site you can edit the artice to include it as an "external resource". If you just include a useless link it will removed pretty quick.PuneetJvw wrote:Google is TEH_DIETY! That is all everyone must know. Not only is it annoying, but every other site (the wiki clones) that auto-scrape the wikipedia content also gets listed at the top.Especially annoying when the article says nothing but "this article is a stub, you can help Wikpedia by expanding it". A page with no content getting the top spot just because it is wikipedia.Wikipedia has related content, tons of backlinks, and the pages all link to eachother logically, and its completely a legitimate site. So why shouldn't it have a high rank?If you have a site related to something on Wikipedia, you can add it to external links. If it sucks then it gets removed. If it's good it stays. Wikipedia is great like that.
