tired of trying to figure out how many inbound links you have and when new ones are added.... try:http://www.google.com/webalerts/set the url to "link:youraddress.com" and you'll get a email notification everytime someone adds a link to your site. (In theory! I'll report back as to how effective it is in a few weeks... if you already know, let me know so I don't waste my time)If this is nothing new to y'all, sorry, thought it was sliced bread.Oh how cool is that! thanks for the link! Im always typing in site: blablabla.com and its kind of repetitiv.CheersToneNice, good URL Steve! Does this update once a month(ish) along with the regular backlinks & PageRank update?Or does this tell you as soon as it sees a new backlink to your site?not sure... I just signed up today... I've been getting a lot of "new feature" alerts when doing google searches lately, this was just one of them. I'll post updates on how effective it is down the road...Yeah, definitely be interesting to see how this one goes.If the backlink updates are real-time, and not just done on the regular backlink/pr update, that will be VERY useful.I wonder does it tell you the new results? Or just that the results have changed?I read some where today the googledance is a constant thing these days, not a once a month thing anymore... In theory, I would assume that as google snags new links to you into it's system this page would change and you get an alert sent to you...but as we all know...In theory there's no difference between thoery and practice; In practice there is....not sure how it's gonna work out in the end... fingers crossedI know this link for about few weeks. I see now they do not have "As it happens" feature, only each day or each month.Well, yeah, when I said real-time, that was probably a little too much to ask, heh.But still even if it sends you an E-Mail once a day. If somebody adds a link to my site on a page of theirs, their page shows up in the index tomorrow, am I going to get an E-Mail tomorrow that I have a new site linking to me? Or just after the regular backlinks update that happens once a month or so? (that's what I was more questioning)...Given the structure of the query (link:www.yoursite.com) I'm going to guess that it only happens on the regular backlinks & PR update each month (assuming Google is working off the public database).still cool linkI signed up 2 days ago and i got an email today saying that one of the threads in Ozzu is linking to me. So this must mean that it lets you know when i new link has been added?what was the format of this email? Was it detailed?Quote:couldn't you use this for "site:www.yourdomain.com" also to see when a new page is indexed by google?Yup, I would assume you could you can also set up an alert for your competitors site to see where they have new links coming in from. You should be able to get many of the same links.
