Hello again.I have a question regarding Google sitemaps. My website, http://www.cookaz.com is a database driven site, ie, content comes from a database. The site is quite new and I keep adding content frequently (almost daily). I am also using url rewriting to create unique pages for different content, therefore, I have new pages all the time. Should the sitemap file be updated, as new pages are created all the time or it is enough to keep the sitemap with the main pages (that contain links to the rest of the pages)? Thanks again.I would always recommend updating the sitemap when new content comes along or, as I do with quite a few of my clients, once a week.If you are talking about Google sitemap then if you have registered your website in Google's sitemap then your Google sitemap gets updated automatically. You dont have to amke changes in that. But if you are talkign about your websites's internal sitemap then yes definitely you need to update it regularly. And as you said that you updated the domain names even then definitely you need to update your sitemap with correct URL on it. This is both user as well as crawler friendly. Thanks a lot. I am talking about Google sitemaps, I don't think that the sitemap.xml file gets automatically updated by google. Anyway, I think that I will be updating it once a week or so. I am using a free tool that generates a sitemap.xml file automatically, based on my home url. Thanks again.kailyn_morgan wrote:The thing I don't get with Google sitemaps, reason for not having one yet, is do you have to include every link of your site in the site map to get that page indexed.I have something like 250,000 - 500,000 pages on one of my sites.I want to know if require to submit a site map to get indexed by google. How does a site map help?slash007 wrote:I recommend this if you use php on your website. Once installed you can update it whenever you want, and it will even make a text sitemap for yahoo. It costs like 16.00, but well worth it. I think it's free if you have less than 500 url's.This program took me right out of the supplemental results.
