I thought this was pretty cool...http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/google-ranking-factors.htmNice link.Great article. Wish he'd create ones for Yahoo and MSN.I wouldn't take it as the seo bible though....there are somethings they mention that are highly debatable...and other are pure speculation. They do a good job of alerting users of this but not till the bottom of the page...read the whole article.I agree, I read it with an open mind but some of it raised red flags. But that's the SEO game, nothing's concrete. As best I could tell it was written based on pro SEO opinions and thoughts. I certainly wouldn't take it as Bible since only Google knows for sure, but it does point out some things I hadn't thought of.You guy's look like you have a good grasp on what to do to get to the top....I just didn't want any of the newbies to think that this was a road map to success. I would have also like to see them put some sort of weighting factor on some of the tips...like which things are more important in general and which ones are the secondary things to do once you've done the basics. But YES I agree some very good stuff there!!!phaugh wrote:What are y'all opinion on this, found at the above website?Quote:Great question.....edu and .org were orignially designed for education and non-commercial/non-profit organizations...they were some of the first domains created....remember that the government built the internet....with this in mind...those are resources that would receive many natural non-recip links, thus making them very important in the eyes of the search engines. ...so I think the fact that these domains might rank high is a by product of who they are and not the actual extension. As for the rest, I manage .net .biz and .com sites....there's no effect on rankings just based on the domain name extension. Dot COM Is probably the best on to use, if you can get the domain name you want, since that is usually what users are familar with.Quote:Thanks George ... that one made my bookmarks.Just remember SEO is based on one's OPINION ... and that changes DAILY. Quote:Hey, someone's got to provide the gags.... Still, its an apt statement and one that probably justified your caution when referring to the article in question.I'm off...This is more like MSN than Google ranking. It all depends on how competitive the keyword is and so deferent strategy is required for each case....It does not mention that for competitive key words external link factors are the most important. For less competitive words on page optimisation and/nor a HTML title will do. For obscure unused words and spelling mistakes the meta keyword tag may do!
