Thank you for considering a reply to the following question.URL: http://www.overflux.comPR: 3Googlebot info (from beginning of month): 1975 (hits on site) +55 (hits on robots.txt) 789.29 MB (bandwidth) 16 Dec 2005 - 16:00 (last visit)Domain info:created: 23-Mar-2005last-changed: 14-Jun-2005registration-expiration: 23-Mar-2006Targeted keyword: "parkour usa"Any ideas as to why this site is not performing well at all in google positioning? This site: http://parkourmobile.tripod.com/ (beware popups), for example, which has no content and no backlinks, is pages above the one in question. Is there something I can do to change this?you need to look through your logs and find out what google thinks your site is aboutdo that by picking out all the entries from google (if you have a good stats program it will do it for you) and then see what the search phrases areif you dont find any "parkour usa" in that list google doesnt think your site is about that.If you find lots of on particular word or phrase then thats what google thinks your site is about.A quick look at your site shows it has lots of text. if "parkour usa" does not figure prominantly in that text google will not think your site is about that. Also google puts a lot of weight into what text a site is linked to with. If you have lots of incoming links but all with seemingly random text, google will not know what your site is about.Don't look at a single site to find out why that site ranks better than yours. it will often just confuse you.look at all sites that rank better than yours and look for the common thread.Note: those sites closer to you in the results are more in common with yoursThanks for your reply, I'll look into everything you said.Just as a follow-up, why do you think that the site comes up on the front page in Yahoo and MSN search for the term 'parkour usa', whereas it is nowhere to be seen at google? Are the former two more "lenient"?Further, I'm curious as to why googlebot visits and requests so much. Last month, the googlebot had 1.7 gb of bandwidth, which is more than that of any end user. The googlebot visits far more often (at least, it has far more hits) than either yahoo or msn. Any experience with this? Thanks.you will need to look into your logs againgoogle definately thinks your site is about overflux. as you are listed number one therebut obviously not parkourThe SE's use different algorithms for ranking a site. so you really can't compare them. google for instance is less likely to give your relevance for new backlinks. The phrase "parkour usa" does not appear anywhere on the page. using the phrase "parkour usa" towards the top of the page will help also in the titlelooking at your logs will tell you what google is doing. and where its going. if you want to reduce the effect of google it may be best to include a robots.txt file you may also want to consider using mod_rewrite to remove parameter strings from pages.se's consider index.php?jack as a different page to index.php?jimI think, there is a common notion 'your site can not be at top in all three majors, yahoo, msn & google. And the same has been true for my site as well, this was ranking among top 3 with yahoo and msn but not for the Google. So we may assume this as being true for your instance too. How do you think?
