Hi,Whilst checking my log, i noticed I hadn't had a hit from the googlebot for a while. I did notice a lot of hits starting 66.248.X.X, so i done a WHOIS search and it came back as google. have google done away with their old googlebot searches (my old googlebot hits used to come up as crawler-X.googlebot.com)?Just an observation.Darren.I checked and I am still getting visits from googlebot.lol that would be major news - no more googlebot. but no, i too still recieve hits from googlebot.I was thinkin recently about a way to sweep the web, instead of a bot following links, Software that would simply sweep from server to server... its quite plausable, but I dont think google are onto it i'm still getting googlebot hits, just in the last couple of weeks i've been getting these plain old IP hits (I had 2 today so far). as i say, i looked them up and they belong to google. They're in a different IP range to googlebot too. Anyway, i was just wondering if anyone knew anymore about these IPs. maybe i'll get scooby and the gang to investigate...care to post the ips? that would help There is a theory that google sometimes check sites for cloaking and duplicate contents sending a different bot other than googlebot.66.249.64.66 is one of them, 66.249.66.143 is another.My googlebot hits are normally 64.68.X.Xhhmmm maybe they just introduced another bot?
