When i type video into a google search the top result is video.google.comNow, i don't believe that if google uses the same algo on it's own sites that it uses on everyone elses that google would be the top result for a single word search like video such a short time after google videoo was released. It is their company They already have 2,060 backlinks They have said in the past that thier own sites have to pass the "google algo" just like everyone elses. It would hardly be fair to put thier link above anyone elses when everyone else has to work hard for it.blockbuster.com have 2,570 backlinks.Google are no different to other very large corporations......in the end - the dollar is King.....Those who voiced these kind of opinions in the early days were shouted down and called cynics........the recent China thingy is the biggest measure of their intentions...........Its all a shame really, coz in the future all SEO Optimisers will be on welfare benefits...or living off the immoral earnings of the past...... Honestly, I think that just might be because Google has a PR of 10 and Google Video has a high relevancy to the term video. Do the same search for videos and you don't see them simply because they didn't target the page for videos. You will, however, see they have a sponsored listing on either term.Well, if your company wrote the algos, wouldn't that mean your company would also have intimate knowledge of what the algos like to see ?They know what the new algo is and they would have worked based on that. More over they should have got PR10 backlinks from different google websites.I really doubt it would work like that. You think the development team of google video are the same people who develope the algo?meman wrote:Think about it, if you owned google wouldn't you put google video first? I know I would.Flaky wrote:Yahoo has yahoo video as the top response to "video."MSNSearch returns Goodle video as no. 1.Ask doesn't return Google video in its first page of results. It's nice to see a conspiracy behind every Google's move, however I doubt that's the case here In either case of Google Video being first - if it's done on purpose or it naturally appear in that place - Google has both power and knowledge to put it there. It's their product. Interesting topic. But believe, the ranking was natural. The kind of exposure any google efforts get, it is hardly worth to put Google's reputation for fairness to put on trial to get no. 1 position. The link would get high ranking automatically.Must be a coincidence then that google is the only search engine that shows video.google.com as the top result in a search for "video".
