The last update google had really hurt me back in april. i was following this board and saw that several directories i was listed in was penalized by google and i suspect that they are penalizing me as well. i was listed in Bluefind is there any way to get my listing removed from that directory until google lifts the penalty? You would probably have to contact the owners of bluefind. I think John Scott runs that directory, but for some reason I am also thinking I remember he might have sold it. Anyway your best bet is to goto their site and use the contact form if you would like to be removed from there. My honest opinion though is inbound links to your site cannot effect you negatively. If that were the case people could get rid of their competition by putting their competition's links in "bad neighborhoods" so that Google would penalize the site and increase the chances that they would do better. I really doubt you would see any change by removing yourself from penalized directories. If I were you I would leave the links there and simply worry about creating more content on your website and possibly getting new sites to link to you.A general rule of thumb I try to follow is to not worry so much about the search engnies. Worry about the end user looking at your site. If you make an extremely useful and content rich site that users love, in general you would do well in search engines like Google because they are really trying to tweak their algorithms to include sites like that. Just focus on a quality website and in the long run you should do fine.If i work hard on getting people to link to me will i be penalized for a dramatic surge in incoming links from google on the next update? i went from 900+ inbound to 1100+ inbound all from diffrent sites i requested links from and i would think the increase would put me up in the search results but it didnt look like it happened. i almost think it did the opposite. dont know what to think because my inbound links increased so it should of pushed more power in search results ...vitanet wrote:any idea what other directories are banned as well?I dont know what are the other directories that banned but i know that you must be so carefull when trying the easy ways of gaining bulk backlinks or Google punish you alot.I used to have so many memberships at several hosting support forums with thousands of posts and i have changed sig* links at those forums bulkly in an hour and guess what, my pages banned by Google, they dont loose their PRs and backlinks at all but they even not at first 1k results of the keywords where they were ranking as #1 1 of those pages returned to the place that it deserves after 120days.Just a note from a good lesson that got !Inbound links (even from link farms) can't hurt you. You might want to checks the sites that you are linking to to see if any of them are banned. This is quite a silly topic. you pay $50 to get into bluefind and all because they lose thir PR you want out??? Are you kidding me on?John Scott is still managing bluefind but yea he sold it on. The reason bluefind probably got penalised is because the directory structure was bought as a package and features on many sites....You DO NOT get penalised for sites linking to you. You get penalised for linking to a penalised site .... And if internet.com are still linking to bluefind thats good enough for me.
