...but Refuses Those for GunsCapitol Hill (CNSNews.com) - A federally licensed firearms dealer inConnecticut is upset the Google search engine will accept ads forpornographic websites that illegally show their materials to underagechildren but will not accept ads from licensed gun dealers selling a legalproduct to adults. A spokesman for Google said Monday that the policyis "part of our terms and conditions.""I'm sick and tired of having the good guys be discriminated against,"Rick Millo, owner of Valley Firearms in Shelton, Conn., told CNSNews.comMonday.Millo had subscribed to the Google AdWords service to promote hisonline gun sales and auctions. The AdWords service places colored barsabove the search engine results and colored boxes to the right of theresults that feature advertisers who have paid for their ads to appearwhenever Google users search certain terms.the entire article is here --http://www.crosswalk.com/news/1223736.htmlInteresting. How about putting an opinion poll up, supporting Google's decision or not?Personally, I'm in favor of Google's decision, but its definately a gray area.If they can have pictures of people having sex with animals then what difference is it to have sites on guns. They are both sites that are better off not available to the public through search engines.Wow, thats odd. I dont think they should have porn or guns on there. Speaking of google, My school or school district has just blocked all image searches on all the search engines. No matter what you search for, you can't get an image. They also blocked ALOT of websites that are needed for classes in the TSD (troy school district) cirriculum. You can visit the TSD website hereyeah thats the shame of it though. the minority spoil it for everyone else. just added a poll. please voteWhat if I want to allow porn, but no guns, or vice-versa? (god, that sounds terrible!)i.e., whatever you input into the poll know will contradict Googles current policies!that's why you just pick 1 individually, or one of the other optionsguns kill people, porn just makes perverts.Maybe porn is a little bit like the whorehouses in the wild west...they help keep perverts off the streets But this is all open to huge debate -- whether or not porn actually feeds perversion or guns actually feed violence is, well, anybodies guess.I'm glad to see that so far in the poll, nobody wants gun ads. I would think that guns are a much easier market to turn down for Google, as porn is a huge chunk of the internet. I doubt the online gun industry is 1/100th the size of the online porn industry.I have to agree with you deadZ.
