Git for developing a website

I've been working with Git and GitHub together with Xcode recently and I think it's amazing.Now I am wondering how to achieve the same when collaborating on a website (exclusively HTML, maybe PHP and CSS). As hosting is not an issue and we don't really need templates, GitHub Pages might not be the simplest solution.It's basically just about writing the code together GitHub+Xcode style.Thanks for your help!
