Ok here goes.Im going to outline my S.E.O tactics just to see what you think.Im working on some very commercial keywords for my new job (all the other sites have SEO,s & some very Spammy ones at that) .SO this is what I have done so far.Optimised the site so my keyword density in title, Meta Disc & meta Keywords are higher than my competitorsPut headings with my keywords in H1 then used an external javascript file protected by robots.txt to write a link to an external css file (also protected) which drops the font size down to something a bit less of an eyesore.Put alt text in all the images 4 words per image especially ones linking to frontpage.A series of Hidden divs with descriptions of services that only appear when you mouse over links (AKA Link descriptions) That are heavily optimised with keywords, I am also rotating the position of the hidden divs in source using ASP so google thinks its fresh content even though it will not affect how the page looksdate on page in ASP so google spots new content and I can see when google caches my page.and the usual plethora of linking.Am i missing anything or am I doing anything wrong.Comments or Suggestions would be most welcome.Optimised the site so my keyword density in title, Meta Disc & meta Keywords are higher than my competitors....how high? Don't go overboard. Put headings with my keywords in H1 then used an external javascript file protected by robots.txt to write a link to an external css file (also protected) which drops the font size down to something a bit less of an eyesore....this won't help in google...yahoo will like it.Put alt text in all the images 4 words per image especially ones linking to frontpage....only alt text in images that link to something will matter. A series of Hidden divs with descriptions of services that only appear when you mouse over links (AKA Link descriptions) That are heavily optimised with keywords, I am also rotating the position of the hidden divs in source using ASP so google thinks its fresh content even though it will not affect how the page looks...be careful with this one...I have seen pages dropped from the index in yahoo for using hidden divs...although they did not have any code that would unhide the div so that could be the difference....I have legit pages that use a mouse over event to show a div (menu)...they are ok date on page in ASP so google spots new content and I can see when google caches my page....good reference point to pick up the cached date...not sure if just a new date will help as far as fresh content...dynamic pages can do the same and pull more content from a DB to make it look like a completely different page...ie: make a page...make a bunch of content in a DB...then generate a random number in the code and pull that contentand the usual plethora of linking....always a good ideaJust a comment ...Google also likes text decoration like bold, italics, emphasis tags, and rates them higher than plain body text. But only if it changes from surrounding text. I don't see any mention above...I have a bit of italic, underline and bold text for some heading.Anyway thanks for all the help.PS anyone know if google can spot transparent images like a linked 6px by 6px transparent image at 46 bites with alt tags for disc.??Quote:Not speculation ... I am just going by the original papers describing Google:The Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hypertextual Web Search EngineQuote:"anyone know if google can spot transparent images like a linked 6px by 6px transparent image at 46 bites with alt tags for disc.??"...that's a good way to get banned.Look at the bottom of this site: Quote:Just wanted to add discription to link akaa href=http://www.yoursite.com img src=pixel.gif alt=site disc keywords /a a href=http://www.yoursite.com yoursite.com /aQuote:
