Hey guys i've recently been redoing my efforts on my more competetive keywords... as of yesterday it appears i'm starting to have success but only in a minor way... am getting higher rankings on the search engines for my very competetive keywords but only moving up small increments from many pages down... for a competetive keyword is success in getting up to the top gradual or more sudden? i guess what i'm really needing to know is if my rankings are going up small incremental amounts (like 5-10 positions) on a competetive keyword, does that mean it's probably going to keep climbing little by little or is it just going to get to a certain spot and that'll be it and i'll need to do a lot more? I'm going to be doing more anyway (next step is creating pages targeting phrases containing the keyword that are searched for frequently as well as the nonstop effort to get more backlinks), but i'm not sure whether jumping up a few positions is something to get very excited about or just a small first step in a long battle? or both I guess Thats exactly how it is going to happen. I usually only have huge jumps for competitve keywords when:1/ I have a very nice Pagerank - 6,7, or 82/ I make a huge change to the overall page3/ I was at 300th positioning :-/4/ Backlink or Pagerank updateBut it also depends on the industry competition. Could be very good keywords, but possibly the industry doesn't have very SEO'd sites.Good luck. The biggest thing about seo - is it takes time.If your keywords are competitive, then you need to remember as quickly as your improving your rankings, the other sites are going to be working on improving theirs also. So really, the fact that you are moving up in the rankings at all shows that you are doing something right that the others are not.You not just going to jump from 300th to 3rd, for competitive areas, so congrats with the progress you have made and keep it up
