What are your hopes for the next big update from Google? I simply want my backlinks there to be more in line with what I have on other search engines.Aside from being a bit of fun, PR is a non-factor for me. If I go up to 4 then that would be great, if not I'm happy with staying at 3. My site is non-profit so it doesn't really matter.My hopes would be that any website that had quality information was not hidde away beneath a pile of spam on any subject.It is a far off dream, but one day a search engine might exist that spiders the web and maintains quality sites only ... being human edited it would take a lot of work and be more active than Dmoz ... maybe an extension of it, accepting quality driven webmasters who link to only good sites containing quality information 
Aside from that dream, maybe google ranks dont depend so much on their definition of quality backlinks, but moreso on actual content that they persistently drive on about ... if backlinks were not as important in the google world, then there would be much less spam in their index.
