Could anyone point me to a good free text counter?
I'd like it to be able to host it myself, so I'm just looking for a script that I could customize for my site's look, preferably a text counter that only counts unique IPs without any advertising on it.
I would write one myself, but I don't know where to begin for web counters...
Thanks,Sure, this is easy to do! Infact, you could even write a simple counter yourself. However, there are several server-side languages out there, so knowing what your server supports will be easier for us to guide you!
ASP, PHP, Perl, JAP as some server-side scripting languages. Your server needs to supposrt CGI processig for atleast one of these languages for you to put up a server.My server supports both PHP and Perl. I do most of my website coding in PHP, but I know both languages fairly decently.
I think I would prefer something in PHP though.

Its quite easy to program your own conter, but i`m not to ofimiliar with PHP. I only know ASP, so let me show you a few places where you can find some nice free PHP counters
