I have been doing some forum postings with 4 individual keywords in the signature of my posts. 2 linking to my homepage and 2 linking to another more relevant part of the site for those keywords.
What i am noticing when checking my backlinks is that only the first keyword and link is being noticed when i do a search for my sites backlinks.
So is this normal? Do the search engines only recognize the first link and not the others?
all my keywords are on the same line, does that have an effect on the backlinking for all the keywords? I think there is all affect
The best we can put two keywords points two lines It doesn't make a difference. It gives a value to all the links from that particular forum. May be the competition level of that particular keyword is very high that it is showing no effect on its SERP. Consider reducing those to only 2. As 4 links in a sentence or two are pointless. Google shall bitchslap you sooner or later.
Search engines as google recognize spamming, stuffing keywords is a waste of time.
Anyway search engines neglect non-worthy links. Never think that important search engines as google shall take all your backlinks.
World moves on, google and others spin even faster. google will never show you their hand anyway when it comes to those inbound links. What matters are whether or not they are helping those keywords rank that page in the SERPS. I believe in the old adage that simple is best. It can take quite a while for the effects of signature links to show up. Also the effects are not likely to be very noticeable from a couple forums, unless you have some very low competition keywords.
Just make a link to whatever people actually will search for. If you want to come up for bob's seafood, then just make your link anchor text bob's seafood. No need to mix it around.

I am cautious about putting 2 links in my signature, thinking that almost looks a little spamie, but one is my blog.
Maybe try focusing a bit more on the keyword / words that count, and do less signature stuffing.

Jamie Perhaps it's a sign that it would be better to lessen your signature into only 1 or 2 links.
dont stuff up all your kws in one place..1 or 2 is good practice I have Google Alerts setup for when my url or site name is mentioned. The alerts vary for the posts I do. They don't always match the theme of the post/thread for the posts here. it is depend your post quality.
