I have been doing forum post for a couple months now and have seen good results. It seem like it takes google about 7-15 days to do whatever they do to see the links and we get a better ranking for that specific keyword.

But for some keywords it seems like it is not working to increase the rankings.

I was wondering if anyone could give me feedback on why some keywords are quick to get a high rankings while others seem like it takes forever.

Thanks in advance for any feedback. ranking doesnt just depend on the links. its a mix of many things like content, authority of site, links, etc etc.
you may wanna check your on-page SEO works as well. Ok I am a rookie here so sorry if I ask some basic questions. You mention "on page SEO" what is that and how do I go about checking it? On Page SEO is exactly the SEO of your website.. This involve a lot of activities you should do for your website:

1) Add meta tags
2) Add Alt/Title tags for <img> and <a> tags
3) Add Header tags (H1, H2) for your main keywords

Try to have different titles and desc's for each page in your website... Also an unique content is recommended if you really want a nice ranking in search egnines. This will be enough for you to do a good ON Page SEO Thanks for your help I think that may be a related with the popularity of the specific keyword. Thanks in advance for any feedback. Also another factor is the competition - it depends upon the competition for that particular keyword. If a keyword has large competition then of course it will take some time for you to rank well for it in SERPs and vice-versa. Competition plays an important role. If the keyword which you have selected has greater competition than it will definitely take some time. In fact getting ranked for the long tail keywords are much easier than getting ranked for the shor tail keywords maybe it is possible that competition is high on those keywords and it will take a couple of weeks or more to appear in search results. Keep doing good forum posts and also do some other quality link building stuff of SEO Forum posting is one of very effective methods in Link building. You get strong backlinks to your website which results in improving page rank of your website. SEO is combination of on page and off page optimization, when you do both perfectly then only the results live longer in the SERP. The less competition keywords will be easy to get ranking easily and the high competitive keywords takes lots of time to rank high because even our competitors are working on the same keywords like how we're doing. There are other threads here that have discussions on how to do the on-page optimization and how to make it effective in a sense that it will be liked by both your readers and the search engines' crawlers. You mentioned that you've made forum links and have raised your site's ranking. Just continue with that, and maybe add some other off-page optimization techniques. DO look for the competition of the keywords while ranking for those terms. IN google keyword tool, the competition is Advertising competition(How many people are advertising for that keyword) which is not the one SEO competition.

To find the real competition, enter the keyword in google and see how many results it shows. The more the results, the more the competition. Check below process.

1] First check the keyword on your website. The targeted keyword must be on your website otherwise it will never get your desire position.
2] Make sure you are posting in the right category.
3] Check the website page content. If the content on your website is duplicate then it will not going to index on google. Google never index duplicate content page in the search result. That may causing the ranking of your keywords. Actually some keywords having high competition and low search density. For that keywords it is very difficult to obtain good ranking. To obtain it you need a very good content containing that keyword and backlinks from high pr sites.
