Formatting HTML to PDF for Print

I have reports that are made up of a top page that gives you the overall synopsis then I have to loop through each item on the report and as I print each item on the report I have to loop through all daily entries for that item, printing it on the page as well.

There can also be attached images for each file.

What I do is generate an HTML file then run it through a script I found that converts the HTML to PDF so It will print correctly as far as fonts are concerned.

My question is, is there anyway to group items so that I do not have part of one item's info (Like the headings which are important for reference) at the bottom of one page then the additional info on the next?

Right now everything works but because you never know how many daily entries or attachments could be on a given item, I was wondering if I could control the amount of info that is to be put on a page by grouping it, before the PDF conversion.

I do not know if this can be done. I know websites produce reports for admin all of the time but I do not know if they can control what fits on a page so it does not cut off a grid.

Thank you for any help
