Exactly how much interlinking is to much.Im looking to promote a website so im going to create about 6 directories for various related services and try to get people to sign up for link exchange and then link these directories to my site, however Im just wondering if linking the directories together is a bad idea.I have heard google dosnt like to much interlinking.They are all hosted on seperate IP ranges and hosts and im going to be sprinkling in about 30-40 links from other websites as well. am i best to keep them all seperate and only linking to main site or can I link a couple together.would linking to my directories as well as as my main site from my external site be a bad idea and how many times can I put up a link from each of my directories to my homepage.I was thinking about 2 from seperate pages even though I have heard you can do more.whats the best way to set up a web of sites for max effect that you dont get penalised for."im going to create about 6 directories for various related services"When you say directories do you mean folders on your web server or internet link directories where other people come to post their links...like a mini dmoz?From what I understand ... you want to create 6 sites dealing with industry related links. Then you want to add your own site to the directory. Sounds like a lot of work to get 6 links ... for what purpose?Why not just get the links directly to your site?If you have 6 new pages and the backlinks I think you would get more PR directed to your site.I have not heard of a penalty for interlinking. One of my competitors has 200+ link pages with a directory at the top of each page, pointing to the other 200+ pages. The biggest problem is that the links pages are 2 clicks off the home page --> so PR is low.Im talking about creating 6 new websites like mini dmoz.the reason i dont want to do it from my own page is i dont want a massive abount of links leaving my own site and i want to set up these link exchange mini dmoz websites to generate traffic and pr and then be able to point them at whatever sites I want.plus the site im working on is a fairly specialised subject.I want all sorts of links great and small. and i was thinking of having 2-3 links to my page of different pages on the 6 sites.just quick little 5-8 page sites(which I can also use for my design portfolio) and then point at whatever site im currently doing SEO for.How about having all the people who post in your directory return a link to your specialized/portfolio site...it wouldn't be considered recip linking since all the outbound links come from your directory and the incoming links point to the non-directory site.....you could get thousands of one way links.....some small...some greatSomething sounds a little fishy here .... It almost sounds like your subject is so controversial that you cannot approach sites for links directly. So your solution ... trick people into linking with a directory, then you can utilize that PR on your site.Am I close?Sounds like a lot of work to promote 6 sites in order to benefit one. EG if they stop paying me I turn of the links to them. Understand.Instant PR bucket.Well if that is all you wanted why not just optimize YOUR site and put their links on several of your own pages? Then you can remove the links when you want?I have seen plenty of affiliated sites that benefit from the PR of one or two high PR sites. Good Luck!
