Following the sale of Pizza.com for a final price of $2.6 million this week, the man who registered the valuable internet real estate has spoke about the sale.
According to the Baltimore Sun website, Chris Clark originally paid $20 to secure what has now become one of the most valuable domain names around and is understandably somewhat taken aback by the scale of the purchase.
It is reported that the auction closed at 14:00 EDT and since then the 43-year-old businessman has been coming to terms with the fact he is now $2.6 million better off.
"That amount of money is significant," he said. "It will make a significant difference in my life, for sure."
The site notes that in the past the sale of other premium domain names such as Business.com, Diamond.com and Vodka.com has proved that generic domain names are a valuable commodity.
It concludes that Mr Clark, who originally acquired the address in 1994, will now launch his own internet services company named Minestream Software.
