hi
I have Download ed a web page from a web site. the web page contains a table with many columns.I nedd to extract or select data from a individual column of that table without selecting any other column.

for example if the table has 5 fields A,B,C,D,E and has n rows. What i want is to extract the data present in the column A only individualy. Usualy when you try to select the whole column in windows all the other columns after that column in that row and then all the columns from the subsequent rows selected will be highlighted.

Kindly help me out as the table contains more than a 1000 rows and it is very difficult to keep extracting a single field seperately.

This feature is available in adobe acrobat 5, which lets u to column select a table, it is also available in UNIX as the CUT filter/command.If there is a utility, filter, macro, a piece of code or a software which enables this procedure, kindly let me know.
In anticipation of a reply.if by web page you mean an html document, there is nothing in html that allows for selecting specific data from a specific part of the document. If thats not what you meant then try and rephrase your question. In the Mozilla web browser you can control-click a table cell to highlight it, then control-click to highlight others, all staying highlighted.

You can control-click one table cell, then scroll down the page and shift-click another and all table cells between and including the two in that column that were clicked will be highlighted.

When you have highlighted what you want you can then right-click and copy the information.
