Every hacker knows the default paths to the vbulletin admincp and modcp control panels. www.yoursite.com/forum/admincp (http://www.yoursite.com/forum/admincp) or www.yoursite.com/forum/modcp (http://www.yoursite.com/forum/modcp) By knowing these paths, hackers by pass going through the forums first before attempting to hack into your admincp or modcp.

If you rename the admincp and modcp folders, they will have to hack your log in for the forums first before they are able to find these folders. You can rename these folders anything you like. Here are a couple of examples: www.yoursite.com/forum/firstcp (http://www.yoursite.com/forum/firstcp) and www.yoursite.com/forum/secondcp (http://www.yoursite.com/forum/secondcp)

Rename these two folders on your ftp site and change your config.php file to match the names of the new folders.

If you rename your admincp and modcp folders, you MUST change the names of the these in the config.php file to match what you renamed them.

Tip: If you are upgrading your forums make sure you don't forget to rename the directories again!

you can also put an .htaccess and .htpasswd file in the admincp folder and now only the admin for example has access to the files in this folder.

i have a question lol you guyz may find this one funny (or not) when a hacker does get acsess to you admincp folder they would have to login with a admin username and pass how would they get beyond that point (for informational purposes obviously)

This tip is actually well documented, this is not related to hacking your board... so it is completely useless.

the admincp path is completely useless to all hackers... any good hacker, like you tell yourself will not loose his time to check your admincp... they just need a 2 bits of a cookie to access all your board informations... the problem is to find these bits.

giving useless information on how to manage a board is not helping anybody.

any good hacker knows it already.

oh, btw,... you are not hackers, you use the files some hackers pirated.. that is different.
