editing html - trouble saving edit

I have a new, and unexpected problem - which hasn't occurred before.

In using thumbnails the html (produced by FrontPage) is, eg.:

<a href=http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/archive/index.php/"images/wint.jpg">

all seems ok there.

by the time it has been uploaded through CuteFTP, several have been truncated to:
a href=http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/archive/index.php/"images/wint.jpg">
so, of course, no image on the finished Browser page.

On the Browser, I edited in the missing html, BUT it doesn't stay there! Closing the 'View/Source' eliminates the edit - saving brings the query informing me that the Temp Internet Files have been changed and do I wish to save the change.

any permutation of that still loses the edit - and I am frustratingly back to
a href=http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/archive/index.php/"images/wint.jpg">

I don't know how to overcome the problem - the solution eludes me.
Please help!1) Stop Using FrontPage

2) Can you edit the file through your FTP Program? I'm using WS_FTP LE and am able to do so.you cannot edit a pages HTML and JavaScript or any coding through viewing the page source. if this was allowed then you could simply go onto say www.importantsite.com and delete the whole page!

i agree stop using frontpage, iif you want to edit and fix the html code then use Notepad and save the file, before uploading to your server using CuteFTP!
