What do you use to edit your files - besides for VS.net since I cannot afford it, am i correct in saying you do not need vs.net for asp.net development?

Thanks,
-FrankoHi Franko

You can buy Visual Basic .NET or C# .NET Standard.
Each cost 99.00 and can be found at Staples.
The advanced Visual Studio packages have capabilities for all languages, advanced support, and advanced features for advanced development like Mobile devices. If you can live without that then the standard will work for you.

Read these too!
http://aspmessageboard.com/forum/ASPPlus.asp?M=383412&T=383412&F=36&P=1
http://aspmessageboard.com/forum/ASPPlus.asp?M=382461&T=382461&F=36&P=1
http://www.microsoft.com/catalog/display.asp?subid=22&site=11133&x=11&y=8
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/productinfo/overview.asp

They can be bought abount naywhere. I am just saying I know Staples has them. By the way I did not see any of the Visual Studio products there. You don't need VS.net for asp.net development. I've been using a combination of Notepad and Macromedia Homesite. Even though it would be infinitely easier to drag-n-drop, I like coding by hand. There are obviously numerous editors you can use including good old notepad.

I've used VS.Net Beta as well as several WYSWYG editors and keep coming back to a simple, but really useful editor called EditPlus.

It may be that I just like to personally lay down all the code, but I really like using this editor for ASP and ASP.Net.

You can check it out at www.editplus.net

Tom T
