Don't know html, need to learn placing banners

I'm using Netscape, I understand how to 'view source', but I do not know how to put a banner onto my website. If I copy the 'source' into notepad, and then add the 'source' of the banner, I'm not even sure that's what you're supposeed to do, then how do I get it back into my web page?<br />

I bought a book at Wal-Mart called;<br />
"The Complete Idiot's Guide To--Creating a Web Page"<br />
<br />
It taught me the basic fundamentals of HTML. <br />
<br />
More than just learning HTML, you will need to learn the purpose and relation HTML has with the jibberish code looks like in the source code to the effects it creates in a web browser.<br />
<br />
There are also many tutorials on the WWW that are available for free. Just go to the top of this page and search for HTML tutorials. <br />
Many members of this forum also have sites (linked in their signature lines) that have tutorials as well as the host for this forum -- Big Resources Network.<br />

Just upload the banner to your server first and then use this code(just insert it into the code of your website in notepad)<br />
