Domain Buying/selling not for a newbee anymore ?

I Have heard that few big guns have entered the domain buying/selling business and everything has become automated. i mean to say that they have built few script which does everything .

i can get the list of expired domain names daily ...

but i find it almost impossible to grab good names ..
the 4 letters LLLL.COM
THE ONES WITH HIGH PR ....

I SEEM TO MISS EVERYTHING

ANY SUGGESTIONS ? SHOULD I CONTINUE OR QUIT ?
