also, if someone is referred to a website via email or don't follow site - might this also help contribute to SEO since google and other engines could help further see that referrals are from a variety of sources. No way, it isn't help in SEO.
But yes it is mater of quality, helpful content.
If visitor spend lot of time on page then it's sure that you posted quality content on that particular page. I've read a couple of times that time spent on site can affect rankings, not solely of course but as a contributory factor. I don't think time spent can affect rankings otherwise video hosting sites would always have a huge advantage regarding competition.
As to your second question i think that even if your visitors come from no follow links visitor numbers help SERPS but i can't find a decent source to confirm this so im kind of hoping someone sheds some light on this from a reliable place. Quote: Does the length of time visitors spend on a page have impact on SEO? nope...it won't have but you can see how's the importance of your site to your visitors through bounce rate.... if your bounce rate is too high it means that your site doesn't do well ... Nope don't think it does. You don't want a high bounce rate though. It might mean what ever is getting them there is important enough to keep them there. You two have contradicted yourselves. If Google is putting in the effort to monitor and show you your bounce rate then it must be something they look at or they wouldn't bother to do it.

I believe so. e.g. I have incoming links from private educational sites showing in my web logs. I also have Google Analytics so Google knows where the visitors come from (if Javascript is enabled). Now they might not
