Does Google favor bad reviews?

Is it just me or does Google give bad reviews better rankings in search result? I've been into online reputation management lately, and I've learned how much of a nightmare ORM is. Apparently, bad reviews stick to the front page regardless of other factors that are usually considered in ranking. I've seen blog posts from poorly optimized obscure websites rank well when it's one of the few negative reviews about a certain product or service. If you read some of the latest press release and news updates being put up by some SEO Experts and Google executives especially Matt Cutts, you would know the current changes made in Google to solve that kind of issues.

In fact, it was the very reason why they have some new changes roll out. Say this news, http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/blog/2010/dec/02/google-algorithm-bad-retailers-downgrade I've already heard about that news. As far as I can tell, it means that Google DOES favor negative reviews in a way, because putting negative reviews on top of SERPS make them more detrimental no matter how much traffic anyone is getting from them. Google likes honest reviews and not made by a bot. Rather their intention about awaring to bad sellers or resellers was good but they never thought that even that could be even used for promotion. I must say that they had a quite good thought for promotion. Just expecting that soon it going to be clear up till than keep using this strategy
