If i say i am gonna change the address of one of my site with GOOGLE's change of address tool, will it cause any loss in SERP of that website?
I will do the permanent redirect page by page and planning to move the complete website as it is.
I have heard that there is some loss of pagerank but nothing heard about SERP ? No effect at all. I also change the address of my site once but nothing happen with the SERP's of the site, the only thing is your new address will not take effect instantly, it takes a matter of time before Google will appear the changes you've made with your sites info and the same thing when editing your Meta Base as long as your URL will not change. No there will be no change on the SERP .. i my self change alot the adresss of my many sites .. but i never saw any effect on SERP Do you mean change of a domain, or change of a geo address here?

In the first case, 301 redirects helps, but there maybe temporary drop in SERP.
In the second case, you might rise in one local-search SERP and drop in another one. Quote: Originally Posted by SamsungMobilePhones If i say i am gonna change the address of one of my site with GOOGLE's change of address tool, will it cause any loss in SERP of that website?

I have heard that there is some loss of pagerank but nothing heard about SERP ? The loss of PageRank could play into your SERP ranking (although it has nothing to do with toolbar PageRank) and the only way to preserve the ranking is to preserve the URL with built up link equity in place.

It will take a few days for Google to re-rank your new domain too. I'm assuming this is at the top level and not just the URL structure?

If it's at the top level, then you most certainly will lose your ranking, at least for a little awhile. Google when compared to Yahoo and Bing are pretty good when it comes to reading redirects and passing link value.
However experiments have proved that 301 redirect doesn't pass entire link juice. So you should see a small dip in rankings for few days until you are back on track.
