Hi peeps,
Ive been optimizing a number of keywords for a while but what I find is that on somedays itll be number 2 or 3 on the first page...next day its the 2nd page, next week its back on 1st for a week, then it slips down to position 10...
Does anyone else get this with competitive keywords?
Any explanation?
Cheers Yes I've seen it happen lots. I find with some less competitive terms in a niche that doesn't have much involvement with social media and 'communities' like forums etc, the rankings are a lot less jumpy though.
For example things like information about types of tools or machinery, they aren't topics people share on digg or tweet about. Such as power tools, people visit sites to find where to buy etc, but no one wants to share the information, as people on reddit etc don't care much for the latest drill! Just the nature of the sector.
But with others were it is very competitive and every day the nature of them means the sites involved are getting new links (EG tech sites) from social media, excerpts, blog links, rss etc I find the SERPs see much more movement. Yeah ,
I also felt same thing.
I usually try to write articles on very low competitive keywords.
But i write about a lot of things.
So it helps to get visitors that are very highly targeted.
And when ever i write about some competitive keyword my position in SERPs fluctuate many times.
Mostly i will be at bottom at first and then improve gradually. Quote: Originally Posted by Nick4u1

Your query may be getting routed to different DC's which could display different results depending on the index. I actually just go to google everytime...same computer same browser etc...although I have found using someone elses computer I get different results but only very occasionally.
