I'm wondering if alexa ranking counts for anything and also if the traffic it shows for a sites is real? If you will use alexa services I guess they really helps for backlinks and other traffic services of their sites. Remember that the best way to SEO is via natural traffic remember that alexa is a business minded they will not show the accurate results for your sites if your not going to accept their services. To answer your questions:
No, it does not count for anything. The figured can be easily gamed and it isn't a number I put any stock into. Doesn't mean everyone else here feels the same way I do. The way the rank is figured is by browsers visiting your site with the alexa toolbar installed.
I very rarely give anything permission to record my browsing history (except for chrome/Google) and would not feel comfortable doing it for a make believe statistic. It counts for little to nothing unless you're in the top 100,000 sites since it's very easily manipulable which renders it close to worthless. If you really want to see how your website is doing then just look at your own traffic data to see how well you're performing. It is very important to me. I am checking my site alexa weekly.....It's really helps me to know the real traffic and value of my website. No it don't count its for general information. Hello friend,

Alexa help to know the traffic and their resource but I don't think have any benefit when alexa ranking is high I prefer to use PageRank than Alexa. I work for a magazine that also has a web site. I've heard, recently, that advertisers are using Alexa to compare our web site stats with other magazines in our industry. They feel that the Alexa numbers cannot be 'fudged' by the magazines...we can't give them our site stats and tweak them to sound better.
I've taken the last month to tweak our site to see if I can manipulate the Alexa numbers but it doesn't seem to help. While I don't care that much about the Alexa info, our advertisers do. Not sure what to do about that. I believe its real but not accurate.. alexa results are just an estimate. Yeah I agree it just an estimate for you to have an idea of your site. It is a way to measure where our website is getting better traffic day by day or not. You can know Google analytics too but alexa provides the overall ranking with is a good feature..
