Hi, I've noticed that some sites have google search boxes that let you also search the site that they are on. I also noticed that on uptime bot (uptimebot.com) it says "google mirror site" and tells whether yours is or not. I assume that google mirror site means that you have the google search box, but if not, what does it mean then? Does being a google mirror site help ranking at all? Thanks, MattI doubt it. Google doesn't give you higher rankings if you use Adsense, so why would they if you use their search box?My understanding of a mirror site is the exact same site that sits on a different server....perhaps for load balancing or regional data delivery....sites that offer lots of downloads usually have mirror site to reduce the load on a single server...I think they are misusing the term....google search box on your sitwe does help..........It helps your users to find things Jess wrote:It was said some time ago that having the search box did help to boost rankings...But that was a while back - and can't actually believe that it would still matter....It does make your site more useful and efficient.... I have seen some of these faces before!...just posting to say hi.Johan007 wrote:If people are using the box with the option of searching the site that would run more hits to the site through Google wouldn't it ? (still not sure how the whole rankings thing works.)As opposed to using an onsite search which may have nothing to do with Google.I think it can help inner pages get crawled more quickly, those bots must communicate. However this is just my theory.Where can I find the code for such a box to search your own site?paolus wrote:Thanks, but this code is for a google search in general? or isn't it? I'm looking for a google search box to search within your own site. Look at it again and you will see a radial button for "YOUR DOMAIN NAME " as well as "WWW".You cant ask google to just search for your results without the web.Johan007 wrote:
