Quote: This got me thinking again about how much the business who hired them knows about what is going on with their online reputation.
So if you have someone doing link building for you, or social media marketing, article writing, profile claiming, etc., you need to ask your SEO consultant or whomever is doing the work for you the following questions:
Do You Know What Your SEO Consultant Is Doing To Your Online Reputation?
Do you monitor what the SEO you hired is doing for you? If not, maybe you should as they could be damaging your online reputation.
The average offline business does not even know what SEO is.....except as explained by the provider....
They are probably mostly interested in the results, not considering the possible long term damage....
The net does have a long memory......
When I see SEO offerings from folks that really don't appear to have a grasp ....I cringe and wonder how bad the client is going to get "burned"....
Anyone can name themselves SEOwhoever.....and make any claims to substantiate their expertise....
One of the biggest mistakes I see is when a business owner hires someone to post in a forum for them. More often than not we see these accounts (often with the business owners name or business name) ending up banned after posting a bunch of nonsense that reflects back on the reputation of the owner. I read the article and that supported what I already thought. Jim and Cricket have already posted that so I guess I am saying I fully agree with both of them.
One thing worth repeating, Quote: The net does have a long memory...... .
Your sins will be indexed for a long time. I do not believe that the average person.....even web savvy folks...realize that everything is stored forever.....
