Quote: You may have heard several weeks back about a major chain (no names here) hiring an SEO company to better their ranking. This SEO company did an amazing job getting them indexed #1 for hundreds of terms…that is until Google found out they were tricking the system. Your thoughts on this blog post? Anyone actually have any luck with this? I have testimonials on some of my sites. I don't find they really help much as far as SEO goes. Besides haing some testimonials on your sites have you tried the other tricks mentioned in the blog post? I've used google places and customer reviews before and seen pretty rapid results. The site I was helping with had zero on and off page seo when we started, so this was just one part of a comprehensive group of changes implemented.
Given that we made a stack of changes to their actual site as well as link building in this and other venues, though our outcome was good it's impossible to attribute the relatively rapid jump in SERPS to any specific changes. I did however see reason to believe the changes in this area were effective. I try to get my clients use google reviews as much as possible. I didn't do it to help in rankings but just so potential clients can see what a good job I'm doing. I think google likes rewarding people who do quality work and have quality websites with original content.
