Thank you Moderator. I wasn't sure if hashtags would do any good for boosting SEO for any website or blog that promotes themselves on Twitter, as the question immediately came to mind after seeing the last thread. http://twitter.pbworks.com/Hashtags I agree with previous comment. SEO is for search engines. Hashtags are kind of SEO for your twitter account. twitter is marketing, nothing to do with SEO. Unfortunately all social media today become more marketing than social.
All about advertising and promoting products/services. I don't think hashtags can do anything for promoting your website. Its a internal feature of twitter to help people to search for their desired words faster and better and it can not help your ranking.
Totally Twitter is using for marketing purposes not for seo purposes. Perhaps it is better thought of as Search Engine Marketing, rather than Search Engine Optimization, but either way, the use of hashtags is apparently helpful for getting tweets into Google's real time search. And if my tweets link to my site ... well, that's close enough to SEO for jazz ...
