Do archived blog post hurt SEO?

I use joomla and you can archive an article after its out of date but does this hurt seo because it creates a duplicated post with a different URL. For example:
http://smokymountainportraits.com/archived-blog-post/33-summer2010
http://smokymountainportraits.com/blog/33-summer2010 Original post still available also but hidden on blog page.

I thought I read somewhere to avoid using duplicated post.

Thanks
mooney101 It sounds like you could have a duplicate content issue on your hands. Duplicate content is any content that's the same on different pages on your website. For example, a print-version of a page counts a duplicate content. Is there any other way to archive your stuff without creating a duplicate page? technically I could just remove the archive link list to the archive article and just leave the original links for Google searches. Yeah, I would do whatever I could to get rid of the duplicate content. You don't want an otherwise great site to suffer for something silly!

I could block the directory /archived-blog-post/ in robots.txt to I guess?
