is there any way to see if my submission to dmoz has been rejected, or if it's still waiting in the queue?should I ever submit it again?I seem to remember there is an official DMOZ forum in which you can make inqueriesYes, check out http://www.resource-zone.com. It can take from a few days to a few weeks for approval or rejection though.I have a few sites, still waiting after months . . . They said it's still in editorial review stage.Take look to the added sites at the category that you want to list.check titles, design, contents ...Then rebuild your site according to those sites.Be sure that your site is simple = short title+few keywords+clean look+real content, then sure that you have not any deadlinks and resubmit your page , wait..., who knows maybe within the week maybe within the 3 months. If you dont wait at least one month between the submits, the editor will bann your site.I have had to wait 8 or 9 months before now.The resource zone is helpful - when I moved URL they changed my listing in less than 24 hours.Another issue is that Google can take 4 - 6 months to update their Google Directory from Dmoz. ClareThe waiting time depends alot on which catagory your are submitting to. It is my understanding that some catagories have no editors so you could have to wait a long time.Waiting times of more than 1 year is normal.I have nothing to do with dmoz, this is just from personal experience and what I have heard from others.PeterOne method that might work, is applying to be editor yourself, but you should be committed to upholding that responsibility properly, or you'll send DMOZ even further down the path it's going, with a growing number corrupted editors, making some categories impossible to get into unless you know the right people. That said, not all Dmoz Editors are corrupted, some good ones still exist.Anyway a DMOZ listing is not essential, and Google slowly appear to be turning their back on DMOZ (which is a good thing)And you have proof of these "corrupted" editors?I have talked to a few editors in the editors section of DMOZ and their are many categories in DMOZ that are very hard to become an editor for. This is because of abuse that has been going on with these categories.Axe wrote:I would have to side with the fact that there is definetley some corruption in dmoz though. As of today dmoz has 62,793 editors. It is very likely that there are some out for themselves and I have heard many experiences of stuff like this going on. Plus Dmoz has banned many editors and has made records of everyone they have banned due to this type of corrruption. It is hard to find all of them though and I am sure many are still out there. However, just because you submit doesn't mean you will get accepted, even if viewed by a totally legitimate editor. Dmoz editors are only supposed to accept highly unique, or useful/rich content websites.Goto this URL: http://www.dmoz.org/add.htmland read it. Here is an important sectionetermine whether a site is appropriate for submission to the ODP:

Do not submit mirror sites. Mirror sites are sites that contain identicalcontent, but have altogether different URLs

Do not submit URLs that contain only the same or similar content as othersites you may have listed in the directory. Sites with overlappingand repetitive content are not helpful to users of the directory.Multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the exclusionand/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites.

Do not disguise your submission and submit the same URL more than once.Example:http://www.dmoz.org and http://www.dmoz.org/index.html.
Do not submit any site with an address that redirects to another address.

The Open Directory has a policy against the inclusion of sites with illegalcontent. Examples of illegal material include child pornography; libel;material that infringes any intellectual property right; and material thatspecifically advocates, solicits or abets illegal activity (such as fraudor violence).

Do not submit sites "under construction." Wait until a site is completebefore submitting it. Sites that are incomplete, contain "Under Construction"notices, or contain broken graphics or links aren't good candidates forthe directory.

Submit pornographic sites to the appropriate category under Adult.

Submit non-English sites to the appropriate category under World.

Don't submit sites consisting largely of affiliate links.

You should definitely refer to resource-zone.com, but in case if your site haven't been approved for over a month. You can also use our free tool to receive detailded statistics for your domain name including dmoz listing. As far as your site will be submitted our script will inform you about it. It also will mail you daily changes in backward links to over 8 search engines such as Google, MSN, Yahoo, Teoma, Hotbot, Altavista, Alexa, Lycos, AOL, etc.Quote:He may be basing this on that you no longer see the Google directory results are you use to. Also, you use to see what category they were in, by looking underneath the listing in the serps.Still, I do not agree with this, as I feel a DMOZ listing is still very important and should have a higher importance in Google.
